Achieving a fit appearance boosts one’s confidence. We tend to see ourselves through the eyes of our idols. And with today’s abundance representation of ripped and shredded body shape, we unconsciously use it as the standard of how a fit body should look like.
The problem with such a thought is that not everyone can have either the time or energy to dedicate themselves to body sculpting. Some people are even pursuing physically impossible body goals. To those who were born with a big body, genes can be the factor contributing to their weight gain.
In this writing, we are going to learn lipid reduction procedures from the invasive to the noninvasive ones, their risks, and the possible side effects of each procedure.
Liposuction
We can consider liposuction as the oldest medical treatment for getting rid of stubborn fat. It is invasive because the doctors will do several incisions on the target body parts and remove the fat manually by an instrument called cannula. What it does is to suck the fats out from your body.
Based on how the fat cells are made soluble, there are three kinds of liposuction: Tumescent, Ultrasound-assisted, and Laser-assisted.
Tumescent is done by injecting a mixture of saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine. The purpose is to separate fat cells from the surrounding tissues, which will prevent too much blood loss and tissue damage. Ultrasound-assisted, and laser-assisted, as the names have implied, they use the means of ultrasound and laser to destroys the fat cells from the outside. But still, at the end of both procedures, the doctors will use cannula.
Normally, liposuction procedures only take few hours to complete. And in some cases, when the patients want to have a fat reduction in several areas of the body at once, the surgery will require them to stay overnight at the hospital.
General anesthesia might be needed, depending on how much fat the patient wants to eliminate. And if you have a history of anesthesia allergy, then you should inform your doctor immediately. You might not be eligible for undergoing liposuction. It is a medical surgery, after all.
Cold-sculpting
Cold-sculpting (Cryolipolysis) has been the latest technology in the cosmetic medics. It is noninvasive and sufficient enough to annihilate fat cells at a localized area of the body. And the latter quality can be either a benefit or a weakness.
Because of the treatment’s precision, it cannot cover a large area. And even if you persist to eliminate large area fat cells, you are going to need to undergo several treatments before getting a visible result.
What Cryolipolysis does is to freeze the target fat cells to death and let the body flush them by itself. You can expect only a few cryolipolysis side effect, like burning sensation in the treated area, temporary swelling, bruises, and raised sensitivity. Compared to liposuction, Cryolipolysis is much more convenient.
Zerona
Zerona utilizes a cold laser to be aimed at the target area and kill the fat cells there. There will be no invasive procedure because the dead cells are expected to be flushed out by the patient’s system.
Like Cryolipolysis, Zerona can be effective only to reduce fat cells from small areas. It is not a solution for an overweight person whose body fat percentage surpasses twenty-five percents.
